In this article, we will explain how to add the security code to your authentication app. We use Google Authenticator in the example below, but you can also use other authentication apps.
How to Add a New Security Code in the App:
- Click on “Activate 2FA”.
You will be notified that you will be logged out of the solution. - Click “Continue”.
- Enter your email address and password, then click “Log in”.
- Click “Next” to start the guide for receiving 6-digit codes in the app.
- Follow the instructions shown on your computer screen.
Read carefully through each step to avoid missing important information. - On your mobile phone, download the app “Google Authenticator” from the App Store or Google Play (if you haven’t already).
- Open the app on your phone.
- Tap the plus sign at the bottom right corner of the app and select “Scan a QR code”.
- If you haven’t used the app before, select “Add a code” and then “Scan a QR code”.
- Now you can click “Next” on the computer screen.
- Use your mobile phone to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
- A new entry will appear on your mobile showing “Visma Connect:” with your email address and a 6-digit unique code below.
- Click “Next” on the computer screen.
- To confirm that the QR code was scanned correctly, you must enter the 6-digit code shown on your mobile and click “Next” on the computer.
A new 6-digit code is generated every 30 seconds. Enter the code on your computer before the countdown timer runs out. - You will then receive a backup code. It is very important that you keep this code safe. For example, you can copy and email it to yourself, or store it in a password manager.
The backup code is used if you lose your phone, if it is otherwise unavailable, or if you cannot use the authentication app.
You are responsible for keeping the backup code safe. - Finally, click “Done” on the computer screen.
You have now downloaded the authentication app and activated two-factor authentication for your account!
